So its 1 am and i'm really not tired at all.
So I decide to give you stories of falling off horses. I think these are the order in which they happened.

Whataface- I think this was 3rd squad. 1st fall. We were on trails and RIGHT there, I mean we have like 5 feet before we were out of the woods and home. And then we heard the 1st squaders yelling about a loose horse and being at the back of the line I had no time to react and basicly fell off in the middle of the woods with whataface standing next to me like, wth get back on already.

Daisy- Ok this shouldn't count but she was the champion roller. we had gone on trails and like 2 people needed to be graded and JUST as soon as we were leaving, it was her and then another horse behind us leaving, she goes down. She rolled on my leg too.

Prime Time - rolled too. as usual.

Castle- Ok, I know hes the most impossible horse ever to fall off of but I did it. It was during camp and we were on trails and I think I hit a branch or something and just slide off. haha it was funny.

Junior- Relay races at camp, he took the tight turn and I landed on the plastic jump things. I swear all the fun happens when you let those horse go at their own pace.

Top Deck- during the camp show, I was jumping cross rails, of course right before we went in Anne warned me he speeds up after the 2 jumps and I fell after the forth when he turned really tight.

I think thats it.Ok your guy's turn. make a new post or comment, whatever you want.

Updates [copy and paste] [22 Jun 2005|07:36pm]

In case anyone wanted to know what was up with the past SHOW horses..

Our first official retiree, Picasso, our beloved old man, has been retired from the Watchung Troop Program, which he had diligently served for 20 years. He started his service to the county in 1982 as a six year old, serving many generations of riders. He is now residing on a horse farm in Flemington, NJ. He seems to be very happy there.

Houston has been Adopted!!!
Houston has turned 27 years old in the beginning of June. He is living on a nice farm in Franklin Township, Hunterdon County. He has a few new turnout buddies, and a great caretaker. He minds his own business, which is eating all the grass he can get! He is looking good.

TopDeck has been adopted!!
TopDeck has found a wonderful person to adopt and care for him. He will be staying at his current home as a permanent placement. He is living with Picasso and several other horses there. He has really filled out, and is very happy.

Sebastian has been adopted!!
Sebastian has found a loving woman to adopt him. He is living on a 30 acre horse farm in Warwick, NY with three other horses and dogs. He is very happy there.

Napoleon has been adopted!! A wonderful woman in south jersey has taken Napoleon in, and he has joined several horses on her farm. He seems to have settled in fine.

George has been adopted! He is living with Napoleon in south jersey, and has settled in fine.

Marshall has been adopted! He is living with Picasso on the farm in Flemington. What a Life! Marshall was introduced to Picasso, and they hit it off immediately.

Anyone know of any barns other than Watchung [which usually doesn't] that has on farm leases?
And that is within an hour range of Watchung [i don't live right near watchung, but its within 10 minutes of it]

I don't know. I need more horses in my life this summer. Any suggestions are freaking awesome.

Tar [19 Jun 2005|05:37pm]

Size: Medium
Age: Adult
Sex: Male
I.D: srp010

Notes: Please read the "more news" section on the main page for important event information.
We are happy to report that TAR is now available for adoption. TAR is a 16 year old gelding, standing 14.2 hands and black in color with bay markings. He has been in the Troop program for almost 4 years. He was last used in the beginner riding group. TAR has excellent ground and riding manners. For the past two months, he has been coming up lame because he was thought to have foundered. He was medically treated by the barn manager, and has been on daily turn out. He has now started to show improvement in his walking. TAR has received his EWT, rabies and WNV shots for the spring 2005. TAR had his teeth floated at the end of February, 2005. Management believes TAR should be retired with no more use. He would need to be checked by your vet to determine his appropriate use. His feet were checked by our farrier, and it was determined that due to poor shoeing and the foundering, his soles have dropped, and this has made his feet very sore. He has gotten corrective shoes and pads to help relieve the pressure. The Vet has put him back on bute and medication which will help the circulation in his feet. The new shoes and pads have immediatley improved his ability to walk. He is on the road to recovery!
SHOW requests a $500 dollar adoption donation for our fine steeds. Thank you for looking.

Hmm.. realized I've been here for ages and never got around to introducing my self.

How rude, yes. Anyway, I'm Kate and/or Sweenis. I started riding five years ago come this fall. I'm in AA yada-yada.. My favorite horses used to be Georgie and Tar.. but they're gone now :(. My current loves are Chowder and Eeyore <3. Rode every session Fridays at 3:45, did drill team for three sessions. Am currently on a riding hiatus, was planning on making my triumphant return to Watchung this summer, but the parental units squashed all hopes of that happening.

Onto the intersting stuff..

[ I hope everyone knows who this ponE is by now, people who've never been to the barn even know who she is.]

SO has anyone ever planned to do anything with horses like after you get out of High School or get too old for the Watchung thing? Or is this like just a pass time along with a billion other things you do?

Random Update. [11 May 2005|04:55pm]

Size: Large
Age: Adult
Sex: Male
I.D: srp009

Notes: Marshall is a 12 year old registered bay quarter horse standing 15.2 hands. Marshall was last used in the advanced beginner riding group. He has excellent manners on the ground and while being ridden. For the past few months however, he has been chronically lame. On April 7, 2005, Dr Aromando looked at Marshall and stated without xrays he could not be 100% sure what was exactly wrong, but he said that he could have a severe case of ringbone. Ringbone is a progressive, degenerative, performance limiting condition. It will continue to produce lameness, especially those with evidence of degenerative joint disease, which is what the vet believes Marshall has. Medical management of ringbone may include the use of intra-articular corticosteroid injections and bute to reduce the inflammation and the appropriate shoeing. Because of this he would not be able to be worked in our Troop Program. Marshall was a donation from the WRDC. Because of his short time of work here at the stables, the County and the WRDC were asked about the fate of Marshall. Both parties agreed that because of his status and all of his hard work and time that he did put in while being a school horse here, that he should be turned over to the SHOW program. Presently he is not being treated for his condition with medication or corrective shoeing. He had his teeth floated in the beginning of March 2005 and on March 20 2005 had his EWT, Rabies and West Nile Shot. His shoes have been removed and Marshall is being evaluated at this time. The ringbone appears to be only in his right front. He may still be ridden lightly on a limited walking ride. If you believe you can give Marshall the proper care he deserves, then write to SHOW with your intentions. SHOW requests a 500 dollar adoption donation for our horses. Thank you.
